Icebreaker: "What's a song, movie scene, or moment in nature that makes you feel understood — like it puts words to something you couldn't say yourself?"

Access’ Mission
We are a church seeking to live life with God in soul, community, and mission.
Soul
God invites us to experience a new life. We are not called to fix ourselves or do enough good to earn his favor. Rather, Jesus has made a way for us to be renewed by his death and resurrection. As we place our faith in Jesus, we are transformed inside and out.

Introduction
Over the past few meetings (on soul), we keep coming back to the same things — wanting deeper connection, wrestling with grace versus earning, and carrying real weight that makes it hard to show up spiritually the way we think we're supposed to. But we've been showing up anyway, and getting more honest each time.
So tonight we're looking at prayers in Scripture where people brought their unfiltered selves to God. It's called lament, and it's one of the most honest things we can do — because it says, "I trust you enough to tell you the truth."

Psalms 13 (CEB)
Discussion Questions
-
After reading Psalm 13: What stands out to you? Is there a line that feels familiar?
-
The psalmist doesn't clean up his feelings before talking to God. When you pray or think about God during a hard season, do you tend to edit yourself? What would unedited honesty with God sound like for you right now?
-
In Meeting 4 you all talked about grace vs. earning. Do you think there's a version of "earning" that shows up in how we pray — like we need to feel grateful or faithful enough before we can approach God?
- Someone in our first meeting said they wanted "a space to wonder, and have it be enough." How does lament connect to that? Is there something you're carrying right now that you'd want to simply name out loud — not to fix, just to say?
- Closing question (can transition into prayer): If you could say one honest sentence to God right now — no filter, no "right answer" — what would it be?

Prayers
- write out a prayer or two or more and exchange written prayers with another to be praying for another until the next time we meet.
